Comfortable Care for the High Fear Patients

The atmosphere at Eternal Smiles reduces stress for our patients. Dr Singh can use mild hypnosis to take you away from the experience of dental treatment. The team will want to give you every confidence to understand your needs to make it a comfortable experience.

We also have a relaxation CD to help calm the nerves.  By listening to it we have found many patients have a better experience.

Dental techniques have improved so much over the last few years, that modern dental treatment can now be completely painless. Despite this, most people still feel a little nervous at the thought of going to the dentist. If you have not been to see a dentist for some time, you will probably find that things have improved a lot since your last visit. The general attitude of the team is relaxed, the dental techniques and safety procedures we have are the best, and the equipment is up to date.

"What a wonderful attitude towards the patient that Dr Singh and his team have - all fear and apprehension disappear once in their hands."

The Wand STA - Single Tooth Anaesthesia

The Wand STA (single tooth anaesthesia) System is the easy alternative  where local anaesthesia is required, having many advantages over a standard syringe.

Many patients believe that needle insertion is what causes discomfort during an injection, when in fact most of the pain is caused by the flow of the anaesthetic.

The mere sight of a dental syringe and the thought of having an injection by the dentist can easily make most patients wish they were somewhere else. For patients, this fear can be costly.

At the heart of this device is an on-board microprocessor, which guides the anaesthetic flow rate. The microprocessor inside The Wand™ automatically compensates for different tissue densities and the anaesthetic itself is delivered at a constant pressure and volume so that the injection itself is hardly felt.

"I have always been so scared of the dentist. Coming to see Dr Singh has completely cured me. My teeth look amazing now and I would recommend him to anyone. What a nice, easy going professional he is. Thank you so much."

Is painless numbing up possible?
With The Wand it is.

The Wand was developed to replace the traditional syringe in dentistry. As much of a revolution as an evolution, this computer controlled anaesthetic delivery system is a logical progression from the syringe.  With The Wand, dentists can bring one of dentistry's last remaining antiquated designs into the 21st century.

When it comes to going to the dentist you might not look forward to that appointment. However The Wand makes the visit easier and more comfortable for you or your family.

Patients often say..........'When are you going to do it?'

What can you expect with The Wand?

The first thing you can expect is to smile as The  Wand is a computer unit and looks like a modern piece of equipment, unlike an old fashioned syringe.

You’ll notice that your dentist will look more comfortable using The Wand handpiece, as it is simply held like a pen.

You might not even know you’ve had an injection – that’s what some patients say – "When are you going to do it?

Dr Singh might choose to numb up just one tooth. There will be no numbness of the tongue, cheek or lip.You return to your routine able to drink and smile.

You can expect to be so happy that you tell all your friends and neighbours about your great experience at the dentist.

Why patients can be nervous

Many patients say that "the last dentist did not listen to me.  They were rushed.  The dentist did not explain everything.  Looked down at me for not visiting the dentist for years".  At Eternal Smiles we know this is not the way to look after patients.  We communicate with understanding.

Dr Singh and his team use a combination of kindness and gentleness a great deal to make dental treatment acceptable to you.

"Dr Singh has been brilliant with my son Daniel, he was very gentle and reassuring and my son came out smiling - Fantastic."

Dawn Wilkins

There are three main types of dental sedation used to relax patients for safe dental procedures. Depending on patient health and preference, the oral conscious, inhalation and intravenous (IV) options may be of benefit. The oral conscious sedative consists of an oral tablet prescribed to be taken the night before and the morning of dental treatment. Weuse Midazolam and Fentanyl for both oral and intravenous sedation, while monitoring the heart’s blood flow, oxygen and pulse. Besides these types of sedation, hypnosis is also used to relax patients into treatment. Feel free to discuss your sedation needs with Dr Singh who wishes to give you the safest, pain-free and peaceful treatments possible.
